Le Jardin de la Grande Mosquee de Paris

You're in for a Treat

History, greenery, and fine food combine at Le Jardin de la Grande Mosquée de Paris, or the Garden of the Grand Mosque of Paris. Founded in 1926 as a token of gratitude to the Muslim tirailleurs who fought for France in the First World War, the mosque follows the mudéjar style. The gorgeous green-and-white tiled minaret is 33 metres high. It has long been a hub for the Algerian community in Paris, and in the Second World War the mosque to serve as a secret refuge for Algerian and European Jews. Its green gardens are the perfect place to stroll and relax in the busy city. If you want to have a snack, try the café with its charming blue mosaic tiles, white cedar arches, comfy banquets and communal seating. Or, opt for the Turkish baths after you’ve enjoyed your baklava, mint shisha, or a Turkish Delight on the patio terrace.
