Musee Rodin

You're in for a Treat

The French sculptor Auguste Rodin is best known for his works The Thinker, The Kiss and The Gates of Hell. The Musee Rodin was opened in 1919 and is now a key museum highlighting classic works by key artists. Rodin used the Hôtel Biron as his workshop from 1908, and eventually donated not only his entire collection of sculptures but also works by Vincent van Gogh and Pierre-Auguste Renoir on the condition that they be kept in a museum dedicated to his works. Today, you can enjoy 6,600 sculptures, 8,000 drawings, 8,000 old photographs and 7,000 objets d’art in two buildings, the Hôtel Biron in central Paris, and the Villa des Brillants at Meudon (Hauts-de-Seine) just outside Paris, which is Rodin's old home. It’s the perfect way for art buffs to enjoy the sculptures and works of one of the best known French artists, an also enjoy the serenity of the buildings and grounds.
