You’ll find grenadine in most countries as a syrup added to cocktails. But no one knows how to enjoy grenadine quite like the French. Both tart and sweet, and often a deep red colour, it is commonly used to mix both modern and classic cocktails, such as the Tequila Sunrise, Sea Breeze, and La Tomate (pastis with grenadine). It is named from the French word for pomegranate, and was originally prepared from pomegranate juice, sugar, and water. In France, it is common to drink it without alcohol; kids enjoy it with milk in a bebe rose. Teisseire or Capbreton are French brands that are very popular.
