Chartreuse

Most liquors worth trying have a history. They have been crafted and perfect in the culture of a specific region, so that their taste is tied to that place. Made by Carthusian monks since 1605, in the region of Grenoble in France, Chartreuse is one of these authentic regional liquors. Containing 130 different herbs, spices, roots and barks, you can indulge either in green Chartreuse, which is 55 percent alcohol by volume and has a dry, spicy texture, or yellow Chartreuse, which is soft, sweet and has 40 percent alcohol. It works perfectly in a number of fresh cocktails. If you can’t visit the local distillery in the town of Voiron (Isère), why not order a bottle?
